The Teknaf Upazila Awami League has served a show cause notice to Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi and Teknaf Upazila Chairman Jafar Ahmed for not to criticize the remark of the upazila AL leader over Prime Minister during a meeting on last September 8.
Besides, the Upazila AL expelled the leader M Zahir from the party for his derogatory remark centering the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The decisions were taken in an extended meeting of the Teknaf Upazila Awami League on Saturday.
Earlier on September 8, during a reunion meeting at the Upazila Parishad auditorium, Teknaf Upazila AL Vice-president M Zahir Hossen in his speech compared Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s popularity to MP Bodi in the presence of MP Bodi, Teknaf upazila chairman Zafar Ahmad and the UNO.
He said that MP Bodi is such a person who can’t be compared with any leader of the world. Even, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would be defeated by him in case of popularity.
Centering the Bodi’s silence over the remark, AL leaders of the district enraged and prompted to take action.
Finally, on Saturday, in an extended meeting, the Upzaila AL leaders have unanimously decided to expel M Zahir from the party and to serve show-cause notice against the UPZ chairman Zafar Ahmed and MP Bodi that why the action will not be taken against them.
Confirming the news, the Upazila AL General Secretary said that the assembly seems that MP Bodi and UPZ chairman Zafar were supported the remark of M Zahir over Prime Minister as they didn’t protest him instantly. That’s why they have been served the show-cause notice.
A total of 55 members of the Upazila AL committee were attended the meeting out of 67 members.
