Khaleda asked to appear before court in 11 cases on Oct 7

A Dhaka court has asked BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to appear before it from prison on October 7 in 11 cases including a sedition one.

Judge Imrul Kayes of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court passed the order on Sunday.

Khaleda’s lawyer Jiauddin Jia confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Of the 11 cases, eight were filed with Darus Salam and two with Jatrabari police stations in connection with arson attacks on vehicles in 2015 while the other was filed with a Dhaka court on sedition charge for her remarks on the number of Liberation War martyrs.

The former prime minister has been serving time in prison since being sentenced to five years in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on Feb 8. Though she has received bail in that case, her release has not been secured because of several other cases.
