Blue Whale, Momo challenge, Granny banned in Bangladesh

Cyber unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday placed a ban on suicidal video games like the Blue Whale, Momo challenge and Granny across the country.

Strong action will be taken against the people who will play such type of game.

Cybercrime unit Additional Deputy Commissioner Nazmul Islam confirmed the matter to Jago News.

He said: “These games are destroying the youth and are one of the key players in suicide.”

Blue Whale, also known as Blue Whale Challenge, is a social network phenomenon dating from 2016 that is claimed to exist in several countries.

The “Momo Challenge” is a form of cyberbullying that spreads through social media and cell phones. After phone users are enticed to contact a Momo account through social media network WhatsApp, they receive graphic threats and are instructed to perform a series of dangerous tasks.

Granny is a mobile independent Survival Horror Room Escape Game developed and released by Dennis Vukanovic, previously known for developing a series of Slender Fan Works, Slenderina.
