Artists for modernizing art syllabuses

Artists from home and abroad here today expressed identical views of modernizing the syllabuses of the art subjects of the universities and patronizing creation of art works, reports BSS.

Artists and sculptors of various countries came up with the observation at a round table discussion at the “18th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh 2018”, the largest fine arts festival in Asia, at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the city.

Eminent Indian painter Jogen Chowdhury said, “It is needed to establish art museums in the Asian countries. Art museum is being set up in India. Bangladeshi art works are also being modernized,”

The Cultural Affairs Ministry and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy are jointly organizing the exhibition which will continue till end of the month.

Organizers said, the exhibition will display two and three dimensional artworks like painting, prints, photography, sculpture, installation, performance art and new media art.

This year 483 artworks by 465 artists from 68 countries will be put on display at the exhibition.
