Bus of Ganjeraj Paribahan seized over infant Afifa’s death in Kushtia

Law enforcers have seized the bus of Ganjeraj Paribahan from Natun bus-stand area of Faridpur in connection with the death of infant Afifa in Kushtia on August 28 last.

Confirming the matter, Kushtia Police Super SM Mehedi Hasan said that the bus of Ganjeraj Paribahan was seized from Natun bus-stand area of Faridpur around 10pm on Friday and brought to Kushtia. 

Police, however, couldn’t arrest any of accused in the case filed over the accident. We are trying our best to nab the accused owner, driver and helper of the bus, he said.

On the morning of August 28, Afifa’s mother Rina Begum was walking down the road carrying the infant in front of a stationary bus named Ganjeraaj near Chourhash intersection of Kushtia.

Afifa was knocked from her mother’s arms when the bus hit them. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera installed in a nearby jewelry shop.

The mother and the child were initially admitted to Kushtia General Hospital, but Afifa was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) after her condition deteriorated.

The infant died on Thursday, following two days of treatment at DMCH. She was buried at the Chourhash Graveyard after her funeral in Kushtia the same day.
