Asia Cup cricket squad announced, Shakib included

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been included in the 15-memebr final Squad for the ACC Asia Cup scheduled to begin in September in the United Arab Emirates, reports BSS.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board today announced the 15-memebr squad while a bunch of young stars also included in the side.

Shakib will play the whole of Asia Cup and undergo finger surgery after the tournament.

Mohammad Mithun has been recalled in the ODI squad after his impressive performance for Bangladesh A’s recent tour of Ireland while Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Namzul Islam Apu, Abu Hider Rony and Ariful Haque have been handed another opportunity in ODIs.

Anamul Haque and Sabbir Rahman missed out from the squad while Mominul Haque failed to found any place in the side.

Bangladesh will start their Asia Cup campaign when they will take on Sri Lanka in their group B qualifiers opening match on September 15 in Dubai. The Tigers will play their group second match against Afghanistan on September 20 in Abu Dhabi.

Earlier, the BCB announced 31-memebr preliminary squad for the tournament. The cricketer has been undergoing training camp August 27 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.

The Bangladesh cricket team is expected to leave for the UAE on September 9.
