Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said a befitting reply will be given, if BNP tries to create anarchy in the name of movement, reports BSS.
“We will give a befitting reply taking the common people with us, if BNP wants to create violence in the country in the name of national unity and movement…They (BNP) didn’t see any success in movement in the last four years,” he told journalist after visiting the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Bhogra in the district.
Quader said the people of the country are afraid of BNP as they do politics of arson and killing.
He said the plying of locally-made vehicles like ‘Kariman’, ‘Nasiman’, ‘Bhatbhati’ and other three-wheelers on the highways will be banned.
About the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the upcoming general election, the ruling party general secretary said many countries in the world are using the EVMs to save money and time. “Therefore, Awami League is in favour of using EVMs… But the government will accept any decision of the Election Commission in this regard,” Quader added.
During the visit, the minister asked Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Project Director Sanaul Haque and Superintendent Engineer Liakat Ali to show cause as to why they failed to take proper actions to reduce people’s sufferings on the road from Tangi to Jaydebpur Chowrastha.
Roads and Highways Department Additional Chief Engineer Sanaul Haque, Additional Chief Engineer (Dhaka Zone) Md Abdus Sabur and Gazipur Police Super Shamsunnahar, among others, were present.
