PTI nominates Dr Arif as Pakistan’s next President

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has nominated one of its lawmakers, Dr Arif Alvi as its candidate for the presidential elections.

PTI’s spokesperson, Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter on Saturday and announced that Alvi will be contending for the post, for which the elections would be held on September 4.

Dr Arif Aliv has bagged victory in recently held general elections from NA-247 constituency, Karachi, by securing 90,907 votes. He also took oath as the lawmaker for the National Assembly during the inaugural session held on Aug 13.

If the PTI elects Alvi as successor to President Mamnoon Hussain, he will have to resign from the Lower House of the Parliament.

The incumbent Mamnoon Hussain will relinquish his post on September 9th. He was appointed as the state-head five years back by then ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.
