Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said that the proposed Road Transport Act will be placed before the next cabinet meeting for approval and it is expected to be passed in the next session of parliament.
“After the passage of the law, we will be able to implement it. We will seek cooperation of the labour unions in this regard”, the minister said at a press briefing at Setu Bhaban in the city, reports BSS.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself has taken initiatives to bring back discipline in the highways, Quader said, adding that she (PM) has issued directives order to bring back discipline in the highways.
Quader, also Awami League general secretary, hoped that discipline would restore on the highways after the passage of the law in the parliament.
He asked the students agitating over Sunday’s road accident on Airport Road that left two students dead to call off their programmes and return to their classes.
