Railways Minister M Muzibul Hoque today said the home-bound passengers for the Eid-ul-Azha can procure their advance rail tickets from August 8.
“For traveling from August 17 to 21, the travelers can procure advance tickets from August 8 to 12, 10 days before their travel schedule,” he said while addressing a press briefing at Railway Bhaban, BSS reported.
The minister said the Eid advance tickets will be available from 8 am everyday under special arrangement in Dhaka and Chattogram railway stations.
The passengers will purchase advance tickets on August 8 to travel on August 17, on August 9 to travel on August 18, on August 10 to travel on August 19, on August 11 to travel on August 20 and on August 12 to travel on August 21, he added.
The passengers can also collect their advance train tickets for return journey from Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat stations under special arrangements from August 15 to 19 for traveling from August 24 to 28, Hoque said.
The passengers would purchase advance tickets for return from homes on August 15 to travel on August 24, on August 16 to travel on August 25, on August 17 to travel on August 26, on August 18 to travel on August 27 and on August 19 to travel on August 28, he continued.
“Maximum four advance tickets will be given to a person or passenger. A total of 26 counters will remain open in Kamlapur station. Of the total 26 counters, two will remain reserved only for women,” the minister said.
The Railway Police (GRP), Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), local police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) would provide round-the-clock security at different major stations to prevent black marketing, Haque said.
The minister said the ministry has a plan of plying nine pair of special trains during the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
During the press briefing, railways Secretary Mofazzal Hossian, Director General of Bangladesh Railways Md Amzad Hossain and other officials concerned were present.
