Government likely to undertake a construction project for nine residential buildings for the police in Dhaka metropolitan area at a cost of Tk 7.92 billion.
The project is being taken as a part of Prime Ministers’ direction to ensure cent percent accommodation facilities for Police personnel across the country.
Recently, public security division of home affairs ministry has sent a project proposal in this regard to planning commission.
According to the proposal, the project scheduled to be completed by 2021 with the government fund.
It is learnt from a reliable source that the project likely to get approval soon. If it is approved the public works department and police will implement the project.
The 9 multi-storey residential buildings will be constructed in the area of seven police lines of DMP, a staff college and CID at Uttara under the project ‘Construction of nine multi-storey buildings in DMP area’.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed authorities concerned to undertake mega projects instead of separate project to ensure accommodation facilities for police personnel. As per her direction, the project is being taken primarily for DMP area.
Seeking anonymity, a police officer said that police personnel are facing acute residential crisis. Even, higher officials do not get the residential apartment allotment. It is a matter of sad for us. Cent percent accommodation is our long-cherished demand. It’s positive that now the initiatives are being taken. We hope that the project will be completed soon.
