Rain likely to continue for 5 days more

The ongoing light to moderate rain may continue across the country for five more days, the Met Office says.

In a weather forecast, the Meteorological Department predicts that light to moderate rain with gusty wind is likely to occur at places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions by 6 pm Wednesday. 

The axis of monsoon trough runs through North-West Jharkhand to North-West Madhya Pradesh and its adjacent areas in India.

And the extension of the axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and West-Bengal to middle of Bangladesh and Assam Pradesh. 

The highest rainfall in last 24 hours as of 6pm Tuesday was recorded 1,811 mm across the country including Dhaka, the Met office says.

In Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded 33.6 degrees Celsius in Jashore and the minimum temperature 24.6 degrees Celsius at Gopalganj. The highest rainfall was recorded 240 mm in Sitakunda. The sun sets at 5:25 pm and rises at 6:45 am today in the capital.
