4 Moulvibazar war criminals get death penalty

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 has sentenced four war criminals of Moulvibazar to death in a case filed for committing crimes during the Liberation War in 1971.

The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam on Tuesday passed the order. 

The death row convicts are Akmal Ali Talukder, 76; Abdun Nur Talukder alias Lal Miah, 62; Anis Miah, 76; and Abdul Musabbir, 64. Akmal is now in jail while the other three are on the run.

On May 7, 2017, the tribunal had framed charges against them. 

On November 26, 2015, the ICT issued warrants for the arrest of the four war crimes suspects. Police arrested Akmal that day from his village home.
