Signal 3 to continue for maritime ports

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to continue hoisting local cautionary signal number three as a low has formed over North-West bay and adjoining areas, reports BSS.

“The low is likely to be intensified… Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh,” said a met office warning message here on Saturday.

Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, the message added.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Moreover, river ports in the regions of Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number one till 6 pm today as rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or southeasterly gusty or squally wind speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions, said another met office warning message.
