Bangladesh face West Indies in crucial 2nd Test Thursday

It will be an acid Test for Bangladesh as they face formidable West Indies in their crucial second and final Test of the two-match series schedule to begin tomorrow (Thursday) at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica.

The match kicks off at 9 pm (BST).

West Indies demolished Bangladesh in the first test in Antigua could hardly have been more one sided as the Caribbean cruised to victory by an innings and 219 runs over the Tigers.

Wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan contributed an entertaining 64 batting at number 8 but the visitors top order have plenty to think about if they are to have any chance of squaring the series. The West Indies bowlers continued their domination as Gabriel (5 wickets), Cummins (3) and Holder (2) did the damage in Bangladesh’s second innings.

The Tigers now must have to win the second Test to square the series and even a draw will not be enough to stop the host from clinching the Test series.

In the first Test, Bangladesh were dismissed in a humiliating manner in the first innings total of 43 all out in just 18.4 overs with Liton Das (25) the only batsman to make it into double figures.

The West Indies bowlers showed excellent form as Kemar Roach grabbed five wickets in just 5 overs, Cummins claimed three and Jason Holder chipped in with 2 before the Windies batsmen showed the visitors how it should be done.

Kraigg Brathwaite made 121 and there were 50’s for Devon Smith and Shai Hope in the West Indies reply of 406 all out and the game was as good as over.

Bangladesh never threatened to make Wes Indies bat again and in their second innings they were again dismissed for a paltry total of 144 all out as the match ended within three day.
