A Labour Court in Dhaka has withdrawn its stay order on the election of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ).
Chairman of the First Labour Court Dr Shah Jahan passed the order on Monday following a petition filed by Molla Jalal, a president candidate of BFUJ polls, seeking withdrawal of the stay order.
Earlier July 5, the election of BFUJ was suspended due to a case filed by two candidates-journalists Khairul Alam and Sebika Rani.
The prosecution in the case complained that 26 people have been excluded from the voters’ list, which is a violation of the labor laws. On the other hand, 200 people were not given membership.
The election of BFUJ was scheduled to be held on July 6.
