Bangladesh has worked for humanity: UK Minister

British State Minister for Asia and the Pacific at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Mark Field, MP, today said Bangladesh has made exemplary instance by providing shelter to the Rohingya people coming from Myanmar.

“Bangladesh has worked for humanity. . .and Britain is grateful to Bangladesh,” he said while talking to media after a meeting with Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed at his secretariat office, according to BSS.

“I’ve visited Rohingya camp and witnessed the reality there,” said Mark Filed, adding international community is beside Bangladesh and Britain would continue all types of cooperation in this regard.

Referring to the longstanding economic relations of his country with Bangladesh, he said the bilateral trade would be continued and boosted further even after the Brexit.

The bilateral trade volume between the two countries now stands at nearly $ 4 billion and Britain is the third largest export destination of Bangladeshi products.

Tofail Ahmed also said Bangladesh’s trade with Britain would be boosted even after the Brexit as the country is keen to strengthen the bilateral economic ties further.

He hoped Britain would provide GSP Plus facilities for Bangladesh after its graduation to a developing nation from LDCs.

Commerce secretary Shubhashish Bose and officials of British High Commission in Dhaka were present.
