Shahjahan murder: Prime accused killed in ‘gunfight’

Prime accused of publisher and writer Shahjahan Bachchu murder case was killed in an alleged gunfight with police in the wee hours of Thursday. 

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman. 

Md. Nazrul Islam, Inspector of special branch of Munshiganj police, said police in a drive arrested Rahman from Gazipur on Sunday. As per Rahman’s statement, police along with him went to Khasmahal Balurchar area to detain his cohorts around 1am on Thursday. 

Sensing presence of the police, Rahman’s cohorts fired on them. In replied police fired back. Later Rahman was found dead on the spot.

At that time, three police officials were also injured. They are sub inspectors Delwar, Hasan and constable Mosarraf.

Police also recovered hand grenade, fire arms and a motorcycle from the spot.
