The Election Commission suspended balloting at nine centres out of 452 during the Gazipur City Corporation election on charges of irregularities, the retuning officer Tarifuzzaman said on Tuesday.
The centres were – Tongi’s Khortoil Monsoor Ali Model School 1, Khortoil Monsoor Ali Model School 2, Haji Piar Ali Government Primary School, Bhogra Madhyapara Government Primary school, Jahan Public Dattapara, Khilgaon Government Primary School, MEH Arif College, Kunia Haji Abdul Government Primary school 1, Kunia Haji Abdul Government Primary school 2 and Bindan Governmen Prymary School.
A source in Gazipur District Administration, voting was suspended at these centres over allegations of ballot stuffing, attempts to occupy the centres and clash between supporters of rival candidates.
