At least five people were killed and fourteen others injured as a passenger-bus plunged into a roadside ditch after its driver lost his control over the steering in Khulna on Thursday.
The incident took place on Khulna-Satkhira highway at Baratia village of Dumuria upazila in the district around 12.45 pm.
Of the deceased, two were identified as Shariful Islam and Mostofa Gazi, hailing from Koyra upazila.
Habil Hossain, officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station, said the road accident took place when a Satkhira-bound bus was trying to overtake a Dumuria-bound bus in the area.
Later five people were killed on the spot and fourteen others injured. No case was filed in this connection, he added.
