Bangladesh won the toss and decided to field first in the final of the women’s Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament at Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur today.
Tigresses outclassed hosts Malaysia by 70 runs in their final league match to set their date with six-time champions India in the summit clash of the tournament.
Shamima Sultana struck 43 off 54 balls while Ayasha Rahman and Fahima Khatun made 31 and 26 runs respectively as Bangladesh scored 130-4 in their stipulated 20 overs.
Skipper Rumana Ahmed finished with 3-8 as Bangladesh restricted Malaysia to 60-9 to qualify for their maiden Asia Cup final.
Earlier, India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets to qualify for the final.
