37, including drug traders held in Dinajpur

Law enforcers, in special drives arrested 37 persons including 13 drug traders from different areas of the district in last 12-hour ending at 8am on Saturday morning, reports BSS.

Law enforcers also seized 218 bottles of Phensidyl, 250 liters of locally-made liquor and 500 pieces of Yaba tablets during the drives.

Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district on different charges.

During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested eight persons including five drug traders, Biral Thana police arrested four persons, Birganj Thana police arrested five persons including three drug traders with 250 liters of locally-made liquor, Kaharole Thana police arrested two persons, Phulbari Thana police arrested one person, Bochaganj Thana police arrested two persons, Nawabganj Thana police arrested two persons, Khansama Thana police arrested two persons, Chirirbandar Thana police arrested four persons and Ghoraghat Thana police arrested three persons including a drug trader with 500 pieces of Yaba tablets.

Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.

Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained four drug traders with 218 bottles of Phensidyl around 11pm from Hili Railway Station in Hakimpur upazila of the district.

Later, the detained persons were handed over to the Hakimpur Thana police, BGB said.

The arrested persons were sent to jail.
