20 foreigners involved in BB heist: CID

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bangladesh police has found evidence that 20 foreigners and some agencies of Bangladesh were involved in Bangladesh Bank reserve heist. Additional DIG Shah Alam confirmed this information at a press conference which was held at CID office at Malibagh in the capital at 12pm on Monday.He said, a team of CID is working with FBI, detectives of Philippines and money laundering experts to recover stolen money of Bangladesh Bank.

Already 20 foreigners are detected and Philippines are facing pressure from internationally to arrest the accused people, he added.  Special Police Superintended (organized crime) of CID Mirza Abdullahel Baki, Rayhan Uddin Khan, Jannat Ara and Additional Police Superintendent Rayhan Uddin Khan were present among others in the conference.It is mentionable that, unknown hackers breached the computer systems of Bangladesh Bank and transferred $81m from its account at the New York Fed to casinos in the Philippines between 4 and 5 February.
