Khaleda graft cases next hearing April 25

A Dhaka court has fixed April 25 for the next hearing on Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia. Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the Special Judge Court-3 passed the order finding ‘no ground’.A lawyer of Khaleda submitted the petition before the court on Sunday in presence of Khaleda.The BNP Chief appeared before the court around 11am. Around 9:45am, Khaleda started from her Gulshan residence ‘Feroza’ for the court, confirmed Sayrul Kabir Khan, a media wing staff of the BNP chief.On April 7, the High Court cleared the way for a lower court to continue the trial proceedings after rejecting Khaleda`s petition.On March 9, Khaleda challenged the legality of the appointment of Harunur Rashid, investigating officer of the case, saying that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had not published any gazette notice.The ACC on August 8, 2011, filed the case accusing Khaleda and three others of abusing power in setting up the charity.
