Government arrested Shafik unlawfully: Jamaat

The government arrested Shafik Rehman unlawfully just to harass him politically, alleged Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh.The reaction came up with at a press release on Saturday afternoon which was issued by Shafiqur Rahman who has been appointing for acting secretary general of the party.He said ‘the ruling government has initiated a repressive rule across the country’.‘During the present regime, the journalist community is being oppressed and tortured’, said Shafiqur .He added that ‘The government has subdued the media and arrested one after another honest, uncompromising and skilled journalists.’The press release said actually, a suffocating and woeful condition is prevailing nationwide.Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested senior journalist and presenter Shafik Rehman from his resident of Eskaton in the capital at 8am on Saturday.Head of Dhaka DB’s south zone, Masrukur Rahman Khalid, told the Jago News that Shafik was an accused in a case of abduction of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT affairs adviser of Prime Minister, which was filed with Paltan Police Station in 2015.
