The fourth span of the long-awaited Padma Bridge was installed on 40 and 41 pillars at 6.45am on Sunday morning.
Padma Bridge Project Surveyor (CSC) Mir Faruk Hossain confirmed the matter to Jago News.
The installation of the fourth span increased the completed length of the bridge to 600 metres.
The span, weighing 3,140 tonnes and 150 meter in length, was carried by a massive crane from Mawa to Jajira point.
The first span of the Padma Bridge was installed atop pillars no 37 and 38 at the Janjira point of Shariatpur on October 7 last year. This was followed by installation of the second span on pillars 38 and 39 on January 23.
Once completed, the Padma Bridge will stand on 42 pillars, including two transition pillars on land, with a total length of 6.15km.
