Light to moderate rain likely over country

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over the country in 24 hours as of 9 am on Thursday, reports BSS.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy falls and hails at isolated places over the country in the next 24 hours commencing from 9 am today," said a met bulletin issued this morning here.

Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country, it added.

Seasonal low lies over South Bay while the westerly low lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh.

The bulletin, in a warning message, also said in association with rain or thundershowers with temporarily west or northwesterly gusty or squally wind speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh and Sylhet wherein river ports shall have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number two.

The maximum temperature was recorded 37.4 degrees Celsius yesterday at Jashore in Khulna division and today’s minimum temperature 19.5 degrees Celsius at Sayedpur in Rangpur division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 53 mm at Rangamati in Chattogram division.
