The 14th death anniversary of veteran freedom fighter, labour leader and teacher Ahsanullah Master, MP, is being observed today.
To mark the day, different programmes have been chalked out at different places in Gazipur.
Ministers, parliamentarians, central leaders of Awami League (AL) and Pro- Al organisations will take part in the programmes.
Wreaths were placed on his grave at 8 am today; discussion and milad mahfil also organised at his village home Haidrabad under Gazipur City Corporation at 11 in the morning on this day. Food distributed among the poor.
On the occasion, a memorial meeting on Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master was held at Jatiya Press Club here.
The Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Smrti Parishad organized the memorial meeting marking the 14th death anniversary of veteran freedom fighter and labour leader.
Food Minister Advocate Md. Qamrul Islam was present as the chief guest.
General Secretary of the parishad Ataur Rahman presented the key note paper with its president Advocate Abdul Baten in the chair.
BFUJ Secretary General Omar Faruque, Jatiya Press Club General Secretary Farida Yesmin and former Jatiya Press Club General Secretary and advisory editor of the Daily Bartaman Swapan Kumar Saha took part in the discussion.
Ahsanullah Master was elected Member of Parliament twice from Gazipur-2 constituency in 1996 and 2001. He was also a national committee member of Awami League and associated with different national and international organizations.
On May 7 in 2004, a group of terrorists patronized by the then four-party alliance government led by BNP, killed him on MA Majid Mia High School ground at Noagaon in the district.
