The council of Dhaka University (DU) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, will be held on DU premises tomorrow to elect a new committee.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, also general secretary of Awami League, is expected to be present at the inaugural session of the council on Aparajeyo Bangla premises, said a BCL press release.
Jahangir Kabir Nanak, joint secretary of Awami League and A K M Enamul Haque, organizing secretary of the ruling party will be present as the special guests.
Saifur Rahman Sohag, president of BCL central committee, will inaugurate the council while SM Jakir Hossain, general secretary of BCL, will deliver the key note speech.
BCL DU unit president Abid Al Hasan will preside over the function.
Abid Al Hasan and Motahar Hossain Prince were selected president and general secretary respectively of the DU unit of the student body for two-year tenure through its council on June 11, 2015.
BCL already held its councils for the two major units -- Dhaka Metropolitan South and Dhaka Metropolitan North on April 24 (Tuesday) and April 26 (Thursday) respectively.
Meanwhile, the 29th council of Bangladesh Chhatra League will be held in the capital on May 11 and 12 where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of Awami League, is expected to be present at the inaugural session of the two-day council.
Bangladesh Chhatra League, the country's oldest student organisation, began its journey on January 4, 1948, with the fundamentals of education, peace and progress.
