The government has given approval to two new universities in the private sector amid questions over the standards of education at the existing private universities.
The two new universities are Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah in Khulna and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in Rajshahi.
Secondary and Higher Education Division issued an order for the approval of the universities on Wednesday.
Secondary and Higher Education Division’s Additional Secretary Md Mohiuddin Khan confirmed it to Jago News.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission President Kazi Rafiqul Alam is the founder of the two approved universities.
Now, the number of private universities in Bangladesh is 99 including the new two universities.
The two universities have received their approval on 23 conditions.
Still, 33 private universities of the country couldn’t transfer their campus on their respective land.
Besides, a number of private universities are being widely criticized for numerous irregularities including education-trade.
