Prime Bank South Zone suffered batting collapse as they were dismissed for 191 against Walton Central Zone on the first day of the fifth round of four-day Bangladesh Cricket League held on Tuesday at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
Central bowlers not only shine with the leather but their batsmen too were in impressive form as they scored 154 for 2 in their first innings when the stumps were drawn for the day, BSS reported.
Despite a 64-run opening stand by Fazle Mahmud (40 ) and Anamul Haque (23), the remaining South Zone batsmen hardly offered any resistance against some tight bowling display by the Central Zone bowlers, losing wickets at regular intervals.
Most of the South Zone batsmen made a start but were dismissed between 20 to 28 runs.
Ebadat Hossain and Mosharraf Hossain were the pick of Central Zone bowlers as they claimed four wickets each giving away 32 and 57 runs respectively. They were well supported by Salahuddin Shakil who took two wickets for 50 runs.
In reply, Walton Central Zone started their second innings in the afternoon and their batsmen like their bowlers too sparkle with the willow as they rattled up 154 for 2 at stumps.
Central Zone lost their opener Saif Hasan who backed to the pavilion after scoring 30 runs off 37 balls laced with five boundaries.
Another opener Shadman Islam then paired 82-run second wicket stand with Abdul Mazid who was trapped leg before wicket by Abdur Razzak delivery. Mazid contributed 44 runs off 58 balls that was studded with six boundaries.
Shadman Islam remained unbeaten with a polished 66 runs along with Marshall Ayub 14 not out as the stumps were drawn for the day.
Nayeem Islam and Abdur Razzak shared one Central Zone wicket each conceding 43 and 51 runs respectively.
