Stocks open positive amid volatility

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw positive trend in early hour of trading on Sunday amid choppy trading, the first trading day of the week.DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 6.90 points or 0.14 per cent to 4,799.21, after first 30 minutes of trade, when the report was filed at 11am. The two other indices also saw positive trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 3.78 points or 0.20 per cent to 1,887.69. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 1.18 points or 0.09 per cent to stand at 1,191.04.Turnover on the main bourse stands at Tk1.24 billion when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 128 advanced, 69 declined and 41 remained unchanged. Beximco Pharma was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk94 million changing hands followed by Lafarge Surma Cement, FAR Chemicals, BSRM and BSRM Steels.The port city bourse CSE also saw positive trend in early hour of trading with its Selective Category Index CSCX gained 19.12 points to stand at 8,978.72, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 58 gained, 33 declined and 19 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk86 million. -FE
