‘Boishakh celebration not conflict with Islam’

The celebration of Bengali New Year, Pahela Boishakh, is not in conflict with Islam, Said Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu.He said this while addressing a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar organised by Bangali Shangskritik Jote, an alliance of cultural activists on Monday.He said ‘Bangladesh will progress on its own cultural path and confront militancy, communalism and war crimes.’The culture of Bangladesh was created by Lalon and other mystics, Tagore and Nazrul, Shamsur Rahman and others, Inu said.The meeting was presided over by the president of the alliance, Saiful Azam Bashar.
