Two people were shot dead and another 30 injured in a clash over land dispute in Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Ali Ahmed and Rumel Ahmed of Mitrimahal village.
Two groups of villagers of Mitrimahal and Bahar village locked in fierce clash while a meeting was going on to settle the dispute over the construction of a mosque wall, said a local source.
Source said that a former chairman of local union council opened fire with his licenced gun which left two people dead on the spot.
