PM stands by Swadhin Bangla football player Taslim Sheikh

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has come forward in aid of Swadhin Bangla Football Team player Taslim Sheikh, donating Taka 35 lakh for meeting his treatment cost and other family expenditures.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday handed over a check for the amount to Taslim Sheikh who has been suffering from various complicated diseases for over 12 years," PM's Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan told BSS today.He said a newspaper report on the ordeal of Taslim Sheikh, now living in Lalpur of Natore, drew the attention of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.Later, she asked the deputy commissioner (DC) of Natore to send a detailed report on the condition of Taslim, Khokan said.As per the directive, he said, the Natore DC placed a report before the premier recently informing Taslim's condition. According to the report, this member of Swadhin Bangla Football Team has been living in a dilapidated three-room house in Lalpur with his ailing wife and two sons and one daughter. His wife underwent an open heart surgery a few years back and his elder son is working in Gopalpur Sugar Mills on master roll.
