Doctors trying best to save the baby shot in womb

The board of specialist doctors, nurses, ward boys and all in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Dhaka Medical College hospital are trying their best to save the life of the baby shot in womb. She had been operated three days ago and now the doctors are struggling to save her from infection. They are trying to protect the baby with antibiotics and special monitoring round the clock. Dr. Kaniz Hasina Sheuli, associate professor of DMC infant surgery department said to Jago News the baby is getting better. She put on weight of half Kg more and is two and half Kg now. Bilirubin count decreased to 13 from 17, which is also a good sign. The baby was fed with more of mother’s breast also on Saturday, the doctor said. However, the baby can be declared as out of danger after seven days from now. Doctors are trying their best to make sure the baby does not get infected during this period. Earlier on July 23, Nazma Begum got shot in her abdomen in a gunfight between two groups of local Jubo League cadres at Duaripara in Magura district. She was admitted to Magura general hospital only to find the unborn baby in her womb is also been shot by the bullet. Nazma gave birth to the baby girl and transferred to DMC for further treatment later.
