Resist conspiracy of anti-liberation forces: President

President M Abdul Hamid today urged the people to resist all sorts of conspiracies and evil-attempts of the defeated forces of 1971 as they are the enemy of country's independence, democracy and development."Resist conspiracy and evil-attempt in the greater interest of the country and nation . . . And we have to spread the spirit of Liberation War and flourish the democratic thoughts" among all, specially the new generation, the President told a freedom fighters' reception at Rajbari Field here on the occasion of the "First Armed Resistance Day" against the Pakistani occupation forces, BSS reported.Noting that all movements and struggles from the 1952 Language Movement to the final Independence proclamation by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 26 in 1971 were closely related to the Liberation War, President Hamid urged all to let the new and future generations know the actual history of country's freedom struggle."The new generation must know the contribution of the respective people to the Freedom Struggle as no partial history can guide any nation to the right way," Abdul Hamid observed adding that country experienced many falsehoods and distortion of history on the freedom struggle as well the Liberation War earlier. The President categorically said a vested quarter tried to teach the post-1971 generation a distorted history and they did it deliberately being afraid of Bangabandhu, Liberation War and its history.Mentioning that the anti-liberation forces didn't forget the stigma of defeat in the liberation war, the President said the evil forces even now try to raise their heads whenever they get scope.Referring to the historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu, the President said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu in his speech gave a clear outline of the country's independence and Liberation War reflecting the expectation of the common people as the charter of freedom of Bengaleses as well as the source of inspiration to the oppressed, exploited and deprived masses across the globe. The President, who was also a sub-sector commander of the Liberation War, said the 19th March of 1971 is a unique day in the history of country's Liberation War as the freedom-loving people, under the directive of Bangabandhu, had launched the first armed attack on the Pakistani forces in Joydebpur. He paid rich tribute to Hormut, Niamat and Monu K Halifa of Gazipur and other patriotic people who embraced martyrdom on March 19, 1971. President Hamid said this resistance had accelerated the preparation of armed freedom fighters and encouraged the general public to participate in the war.In fact, the incident of 19th March was an outburst of oppression and exploitation against the then Pakistani regime, he added. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is giving priority to the economic emancipation of the masses alongside the political independence in line with expectation of Bangabandhu and urged all to work with the spirit of 1971 to build a happy, prosperous "Sonar Bangla" as dreamt by Bangabandhu. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozzammel Haque, MP, Md Zahid Ahsan Russel , MP, Gazipur Zila Parishad chairman Akhtaruzzaman, city Awami League president Advocate Ajmatullah Khan and general secretary Advocate Jahangir Alam, among others, also spoke, on the occasion.
