Days after the US-Bangla plane crash at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), again an aircraft belonging to Yeti Airlines has narrowly escaped from an accident at Gautam Buddha Airport in Nepal on Sunday.
The 9-N-AJC aircraft that flew from Kathmandu at 4:40pm narrowly escaped a crash while landing at Gautam Buddha airport at 5:11pm. The plane got stuck in the middle of the runway when the front wheel of the aircraft got locked in the course of landing, reports the Himalayan.
The plane had 26 passengers including crew members on board. All the passengers, including crew members are safe, said Gautam Buddha Airport Manager Tekraj Pokhrel. According to Pokhrel, the airport was closed after the aircraft got stuck in the middle of the runway.
“Technicians failed to open the locked wheel. The airport will remain closed until the plane is removed from the runway with the help of engineers from Kathmandu,” Pokhrel added.
All flights of Buddha Air and Shree Airlines were cancelled after Yeti Airline’s aircraft got stuck in the runway.
A Buddha Air plane coming from Kathmandu was held for half-an-hour in the sky before it was diverted to Bharatpur airport, said station Manager Darshan Ghimire.
