Bangladesh opt to bowl, Shakib in for Abu Hider

Bangladesh, boosted by the sudden arrival and inclusion of Shakib Al Hasan, won the toss and chose to bowl. Chasing sides have won all but one game in the the tournament so far, but Sri Lanka captain Thisara Perera suggested that his side had actually wanted to bat first.

That may be because, although the game will be played on a fresh Khettarama surface, it appears dryer than those that were produced for the start of the tournament. Accordingly, both sides have bolstered their slow-bowling stocks. For Bangladesh, Shakib replaced left-arm quick Abu Hider, who had been expensive against India. Sri Lanka made two changes.

Quicks Suranga Lakmal and Dushmantha Chameera have been left out in favor of left-arm spinner Amila Aponso, and left-arm seam bowler Isuru Udana, who is believed to be more effective on slower pitches. All three fresh entrants - Shakib, Aponso and Udana - are playing their first game of the Nidahas Trophy.

There is a small chance showers will interrupt play.
