Nepal has secured the One Day International (ODI) status as the Netherlands thrashed Hong Kong by 44 runs in a playoff in ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers on Thursday.
With this, Nepal has secured this status after 22 years of obtaining the associate status.
Earlier, Nepal had defeated Papua New Guinea by six wickets. Chasing the target of 115 runs set by PNG, Nepal met the target losing four wickets with remaining 162 balls. However, due to the run rate, the team has to rely on the result of the game between the Netherlands and Hong Kong.
Chasing the run-target of 175 set by the Dutch team, Hong Kong failed to meet the target and was all out in just 130 runs, following which Nepal has secured the ODI status.
