BNP has decided to stage a countrywide black-flag demonstration on Sunday next over the death of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Zakir Hossain Milon in police custody.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the announcement at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office on Thursday.
He alleged that Zakir died of torture during his remand.
Zakir Hossain who was Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal vice-president of Dhaka city unit (North) died in police custody on Monday last.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital when complained of illness at Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj. DMCH doctors declared him “brought dead”.
The leader of the student wing of BNP was held on March 6 when he was returning from a programme at Jatiya Press Club. He was later sent to jail after a three-day remand.
