Dhaka University placed seven point recommendation before High Court saying the perpetrators responsible for sexual harassment on Pohela Boishakh should be arrested by identifying them through the video footages. DU placed the recommendation before the bench comprised of High Court justice Kazi Reza-ul Haque and Justice Abu Taher Md. Saifur Rahman on Thursday. The court is scheduled to give its verdict base on this recommendation on August 2nd. The eight points are- 1) the perpetrator should be arrested and punished by identifying with the help of the video footages, 2) a joint festival celebration committee should be formed for the next Pohela Boishakh to avoid such incidents further, 3) sufficient number of law enforcers should be plotted at DU campus area on the Pohela Boishakh day from 6 AM to 9 PM, 4) product-promotional vehicles and canvasser should be barred to enter the campus and adjacent area of the festival from the night before, 5) Proctor and assistant proctors must be on duty during this time to assist the law enforcers, 6) The proctorial body should increase its member in number, 7) The festival celebration committee should discuss with the Student wings of the political parties in the campus and 8) Not to be confused with the propaganda of some community or political party. Earlier, a committee was formed to make a report on the incident. The five member committee, led by Assistant vice Chancellor Nasrin Ahmed, submitted its report to the court.
