Senior Secretary of Ministry of Public Administration Dr Mozammel Haque Khan on Thursday said the government has no plan to reform the existing quota system in the public service.
"At present, 57 percent posts, including those of BCS, are reserved for different quotas...The government has no plan to reduce the quota," he told journalists at his secretariat office here.
Earlier, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette, saying that the vacant posts would be filled up from the merit list, if eligible candidates are not found under any quota, reports BSS.
The secretary said there are around 14 lakh government service holders in the country and many of them are going on retirement every day.
