March 7 speech now a global asset: Quader

In the past, Bangabandhu’s 7 March speech was only our Bangladesh’s asset. But now it has turned into a global asset after getting the UNESCO recognition as the world’s documentary heritage.

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader came up with the remark on Wednesday after paying tributes to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city.

He said: "The speech should be disseminated among the young generation at the grassroots level to instill the spirit of the Liberation War into them."

Those who had banned the historic 7th March speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman have been condemned historically Quader said adding that the historic 7th March and the War of Liberation are tied with a same string as the whole nation joined the war being inspired by the speech, reports BSS.

Aactually the speech of Bangabandhu on March 7, 1971 was the declaration of the independence, the minister said, adding that Bangabandhu formally declared the independence after the Pakistani occupation forces started mass killing on March 25 (night).
