PM visits ailing Zafar Iqbal at CMH

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has visited the noted writer and Professor Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, who was critically injured in the attack on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology University (SUST) campus in Sylhet.

The premier reached CMH at on Monday at 12.50pm, said Rezaul Karim Shammi, assistant director of the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR).

Sheikh Hasina talked to the attending doctors and enquired about the health condition of Zafar Iqbal from them.

She also wished his early recovery.

On Saturday afternoon, a young man, named Fayzur Rahman, stabbed Zafar Iqbal during an Electrical and Electronic Engineering Festival event on the SUST campus.

Zafar Iqbal was first taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for surgery but was later transferred to Dhaka’s CMH by air ambulance under instructions from the Prime Minister.

He had suffered six knife injuries to the head, back and left hand.
