A mob beat two suspected cattle lifters to death and injured another at Madarhat village of Pirganj upazila in Rangpur early Monday.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
A gang of thieves entered Madarhat area in a bid to steal cow, said Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Pirganj police station.
Sensing the presence of the thieves, locals chased the thieves and caught three of them.
Later, they gave the thieves a good beating, leaving a man dead on the spot.
On information, police went to the spot and sent the injured to Pirganj upazila health complex where doctors declared one of them dead.
