A dacoit was beaten to death by a mob at Agangar Kheyaghat in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Kamal Mia alias Pichchi Kamal, son of Jamal Hossain of Balukandi village under Amirganz Union of the district.
Police said villagers chased a gang of robbers on the morning while they were trying to commit robbery in the village and beat one of the robbers to death.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
But, denying the accusation of robbery, deceased’s Brother Hanif Mia said a rival group killed Kamal over cable line business dispute in the area.
Confirming the news, Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Raipura Police Station said that Pichchi Kamal was accused in several cases including robbery. Preparation to file a case in this regard is underway.
