Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators by five wickets with only two balls to spare in the tenth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) third edition here at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
What a cracking game this has been between the two finalists of PLS second edition, as an injured captain’s late flourish helped the defending champions Zalmi pull off thrilling win over Gladiators. Summy was the star with the bat for his team as he smashed unbeaten 16 off just 4-ball by hitting two sixes and a four to be declared the man of the match.
After winning the toss, defending champions Peshawar Zalmi put Gladiators into bat and significantly restricted them to 141 for 8 as none of Quetta’s batsmen could reach to fifty, while chasing a target of 142 peshawar completed the job in 19.4 overs.
After being declared the man of the match, Zalmi's captain Sammy said that Quetta did well to bring it back after their start, adding that credit goes to the bowlers. He also hailed Gul in his first match.
He appeared as the happiest person, saying it was a good win, "I always intended to bat today, that's why I didn't go to the MRI already."
Both the teams have secured four points from four games and will be keen to elevate the position on table after achieving their best in upcoming matches.
In their previous match, Gladiators had defeated Islamabad United by six wickets to finish their second victory in the third match.
