The teachers and students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday demanded making Bangla as the 7th official language of the United Nations (UN).
In pursuance of the demand, they held various programmes including procession, discussion and online voting on the campus organized by Jagonews24.com with the assistance of Pran Group Company Limited.
The teachers and students brought out a procession from in front of the administrative building which ended in a discussion at the university Shaheed Minar after parading main roads of the campus, reports BSS.
University Treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha, Acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, Proctor Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rhaman, IIER Director Prof Dr Maher Ali, Bangabandhu Hall Provost Professor Dr Shahadat Hossain Azad, TSCC Director Dr M Baki Billah addressed the discussion.
Later, treasurer of the university Professor Dr M Selim Toha inaugurated the online voting for the demand as chief guest while M Ferdausur Rhaman Shohag, IU correspondent of Jagonews24.com, conducted the event.
