60 percent of certificates given from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMC) are fake. Some corrupted physicians and officials allegedly issue these fake certificates for money. This physician-official nexus is reportedly being powerful day by day, which is harming the image of other doctors as well. Miscreants involved in this criminal activity are helping those for money who are willing to file made-up cases of murder, rape and physical assault to harass innocents, which cause serious disorder in judicial system. They take TK 1000 to 20 thousand to issue fake certificates which contains names, titles and signatures of different DMC physicians. Jago News recovered some samples of these fake certificates during its investigation in DMC premises. Information from medical record center says, more than five hundred certificates have been issued from January to June this year, of which more than half are fake, said an official of DMC on condition of anonymity. Judges in last one and a half year sent more than 300 certificates issued from DMC to the authority for checking authenticity of these certificates as they suspected those to be forged and were used to harass innocent people only in various cases of murder, rape and torture. Deputy Director of DMC Najimun Nesa admitted to Jago News fake certificates are being issued from DMC. However, she refused to make any comment on the number or percentage of it.
